The exoPOWER EAWT design opens up markets that were unimaginable and promises to
reshape how wind is harnessed.
Some of the features and benefits of the exoPOWER EAWT include:
Very few moving parts - the turbine wheel is the only major moving component of the
exoPOWER EAWT
- Gearbox, yaw motors, pitch control systems, transmissions that are commonplace with
Horizontal and Vertical Axis Wind Turbines (“HAWT” and “VAWT”) are eliminated,
- With the exoPOWER EAWT, there is no need for oil-based lubricants and fluids that
can catch fire that has occurred with HAWT,
- There are no complicated castings or components used or required,
- On-going maintenance and associated maintenance costs are reduced.
Rail track supported turbine with multiple stands around the circumference
- This removes the load and stress generated from the traditional centre bearings to
the circumference of the turbines, allowing the exoPOWER EAWT to be quiet and stable.
Scalable and stack-able up to four exoPOWER EAWT or more per site
- This provides for versatility and adaptability to project size and sites,
- This allows for higher order of power production capacity and delivery from a single
site.
Ease of transportation to site locations
- The exoPOWER, exoHOUSING, and exoTOWER can be shipped in standard cargo containers
Ease of assembly and installation on site
- The exoPOWER EAWT does not require a period of calm winds to complete construction
and set up,
- As the exoHOUSING encloses the turbine, it will not be subject to wind loading during
assembly process, allowing for shorter installation time, and less time for turbine
to start generating electrical power.
Magnet and coil pack for power generation
- The exoPOWER is modular in design so if one section fails, the exoPOWER may continue
to operate while the rest of the coil packs and inverters divert and add capacity
output to compensate,
- As well, the heat that is generated is able to dissipate around the circumference
of the turbine, and there is not requirement for added liquid cooling.
exoHOUSING allows options for storage of energy and other means of energy generation
- Depending on application, the outside surface area of the exoHOUSING provides allowances
for mounting solar panels,
- There is space available inside the exoHOUSING and/or the exoTOWER for energy storage
devices such as hydrogen generation energy storage system or off-the-shelf batteries
or fuel cells for any surplus energy that is generated.
By design, the exoHOUSING protects wildlife, moderates noise and reduces visual pollution
- Netting can be applied to the exoHOUSING reducing birds from contacting any large
moving assemblies,
- Noise generated from wing tip speed is moderated as the exoPOWER turbine sails are
always moving at the same speed as each other and the exoHOUSING will act to muffle
any noise created by the rotation of the exoPOWER turbine rotor,
- The reduction in audible and non-audible noise will improve the health and welfare
of people living near the exoPOWER EAWT…human health issues such as vertigo, migraines,
tinnitus (ringing of the ears), high blood pressure will be reduced,
- The exoPOWER EAWT can be incorporated into the landscape through reverse imaging,
reducing the visual pollution that is associated with conventional HAWT.
